A few of the older updates...
- Sunday, 21 October '07 - Inanimacy Appreciation Week #5
Yep, it's that fateful time of year again! Hop on over to the forums to join in the festivities -- and bring your favorite inanimate object with you!
- Monday, 3 September '07 - You know... it's music... from video games...
If I were asked to assign today's update some sort of unifying theme, it would be "remixing things in the style of... other things." Astonishing eloquence aside... I've got no fewer than three pieces for you!
Two of the three are Videogame Remixes. The first is entitled "Donut Lifts (Super Smash Bros. Brawl Stage)"; its material is taken primarily from Yoshi's Island and remixed in such a way that it might fit into the aforementioned upcoming fighting game. The second is "Kirby in Glitter Gulch"; it's the theme from Banjo-Tooie's Glitter Gulch Mine level, remixed in the style of a Kirby game.
The third piece is an Original Composition -- although it would be more accurate to categorize it as an Original Remix. It goes by the name of "Althea's Theme (DDR Mix)", and... well, the title is pretty much self-explanatory. :P
Enjoy, if you're so inclined!

I come bearing both good news and bad news. Bad news first: The MIDIs section isn't yet finished being rebuilt. However, the good news is that the MP3s section is! And, to celebrate, I cooked up a new piece in about three hours last night. It's entitled "Corridors", and it makes me think of an abandoned mansion, with hundreds of twisting passageways leading to rooms which hold secrets long forgotten by time itself.
I will caution you, though; it's not the typical 'upbeat' fare you've come to expect from me, so do not listen whilst drowsy!

Well! Reconstruction is coming along nicely. The Forums are now back up and running smoothly, as is the Wiki (register & write articles pl0x!). I've been working on rebuilding the MIDI and MP3 pages as well; they're not quite ready to be put back up yet, but should be before too much longer. Watch this space!

- Saturday, 23 June '07 - When the Wheel Needs Re-inventing
Greetings, faithful viewers. Unfortunately for the both of us, there's not much here at the moment. Don't worry, all of the MIDIs and MP3s are still intact. Here's what happened, though. FCMidi runs (well, used to run) on three databases: one for the forum, one for the wiki, and one for all the music info. But, just the other day, all three simultaneously went up in flames. The Dragon and I have been busily trying to recover as much of the lost data as possible, but to compound the problem, HostDime has informed us that their backups are somehow all corrupted.
What this means for us is that we have to rebuild the databases from scratch. What this means for you is that the music pages will be gradually reappearing as I gather up the info once again, and that the ever-popular Forums will be starting over on a blank slate. So, with that said... stay tuned for the launch of Fruitcake MIDI Forums v3.0!
Meanwhile, the FCMidi Secret Police are currently working on tracking down the culprit responsible for the exploding databases. They have several leads, and Dread Fibnah and marty the GOVERNATOR are both prime suspects. More information will follow as this story develops! You'll pay for the whole seat, but you'll only need the edge!!
